It’s on again, the annual Bay to Birdwood classic car rally is taking place this Sunday, September 24 featuring classic vehicles manufactured between 1956 and 1981.

The spectacle begins at West Beach and the cavalcade of beautiful vintage, veteran, and classic specimens take to the road passing onlookers as ladies, gents and children wave from their windows and show off their enthusiastic smiles.

This is the main event of the year for classic car enthusiasts who arrive in the best restored and preserved vehicles from around the country. For these beauties it’s a big day out of the garage as they’re polished, primed and released on the road for a spin of the wheels and toot of the horn.

Just like their precious vehicles, drivers need to get fueled up for the big day so breakfast starts bright and early at 6:00 am at Barratt Reserve. Once everyone is well oiled and warmed up, the first of the Concours d’Elegance and preservation class will lead the convoy of 1500 vintage vehicles along Anzac Highway, through the CBD, past Victoria Square, and through the Adelaide Hills via Payneham Road and Lower North East Road before coming to a halt at the National Motor Museum, Birdwood.

Gates at the Museum Birdwood will open to the public at 10:00 am with cars expected to arrive at 11:00 am.

Enjoy a family day out with live music, kids entertainment, food vendors and the famous ‘fashions in the field’ competition where vintage cars and fashion come together in a big way.

Judging of the Concours d’Elegance also takes place but everyone has their favourite – which will be yours?
