South Australians are lucky to live in the nation’s wine capital and we’re constantly treated to a regular slew of events that highlight the very wines that make our state world famous. So why should this weekend be any different? The Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend, from May 17 to May 19, is celebrating its 35th year of igniting the palate, so you’ll want to clear your schedule for this one.

In what is undeniably one of the year’s biggest celebrations of the region’s wines, the Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend brings together a powerhouse of more than 25 wineries. It goes without saying that guests will also be treated to the fine local food and produce that pairs so well with the local wines.

So what’s on offer over the weekend? Guests can indulge in long table dinners, bottomless brunches, food and wine masterclasses (we recommend the cheese masterclass at Sevenhill Cellars), meet the winemaker workshops and of course tastings, tastings and more tastings. Ever wanted to try your hand at wine making? Swing by the Mad Scientist blending workshop at Claymore Wines.

Rest assured you’ll be entertained throughout, as the weekend will be peppered with live music so you can treat your ears as well as your taste buds.

Event organisers have also sorted shuttle bus transfers from various locations in Adelaide so you can skip that dreaded designated driver conversation; no-one needs to draw the short straw! If you do have designated driver make sure they pick up a designated driver wristband and reap the rewards for being a caring friend.

It’s events like this that remind us how lucky we are to live in South Australia, so grab your tickets and meet us in the Clare Valley – with so much on offer you might be hard pressed to find us though!
